About Brad Dison

Brad Dison is a historian, author, and columnist who specializes in uncovering the forgotten, unusual, and often surprising stories behind familiar people, places, and events. His writing brings history to life through carefully researched stories, photographs, and firsthand accounts.

A Life in History

Brad Dison has spent years researching and writing about the people, places, and events that make history worth remembering. His work often begins with a photograph, an old newspaper account, a family story, or a forgotten detail—and follows the evidence wherever the story leads.

Author & Historian

His published work includes books on Bienville Parish, Natchitoches, Louisiana law enforcement during Prohibition, and the final pursuit of Bonnie and Clyde. His books preserve important pieces of Louisiana history, while his weekly Remember This? column ranges much farther—exploring American and world history, popular culture, sports, music, inventions, and unusual events.

Remember This?

Remember This? is Brad Dison’s weekly history column built around true stories and unexpected connections. A forgotten letter, an unusual accident, an obscure person, or an ordinary event may ultimately lead to a famous historical figure, a familiar invention, an unusual moment in sports, or another recognizable piece of history. Often, the connection isn’t revealed until the final lines.

Published weekly for seven years, Remember This? currently appears in 18 news outlets.

Published Works

Brad Dison is the author of three published collections of Remember This?, as well as The Trap: The Untold Story of Sheriff Henderson Jordan and the Final Pursuit of Bonnie and Clyde, Images of America: Bienville Parish, Natchitoches Historic District Walking Tour, and Whiskey and Blood: The Story of Four Louisiana Law Enforcement Officers Killed by Bootleggers During Prohibition. He is also the creator and writer of the weekly Remember This?

A Passion for Forgotten Stories

Much of Brad’s work begins with a simple question: What happened here? From forgotten people and unusual events to famous figures whose lesser-known stories have become obscured by time, he enjoys digging into original records to discover what really happened—and sharing those discoveries with readers.
